Behaviour training
Hi, I’m Jo, and
I’m absolutely mad about dogs!
After spending 16 years in corporate banking, I finally decided in 2023 to swap suits and finance for muddy boots and wagging tails, following my dream of working with dogs every day. I’ve always been fascinated by how dogs think and act. Dogs have been a constant in my life since a young age, mostly I’ve rehomed dogs with past life traumas, with a few puppies in between.
My curiosity led me to dive deeper into canine behaviour while still in the corporate world, and eventually, it inspired me to start my own dog walking and training business.
Spending my days studying canine interactions—whether within a pack or one-on-one—has taught me so much about the importance of communication. I’ve come to realise that many behavioural challenges stem from a miscommunication between human verbal and body language and what dogs instinctively understand. My mission is to help bridge that gap, empowering humans to “speak dog” and build more respectful, engaging, and healthy relationships with their canine companions.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a dog and their human truly connect and understand one another!
I’ve worked with dogs from all walks of life, and I firmly believe that understanding their state of mind is the key to unlocking progress. Based in the stunning Chew Valley, I live with my young daughter, husband, and our two Ridgebacks—Zeus and our newest addition, Chika, who we recently rehomed. Teaching my daughter how to communicate with dogs and set boundaries has been one of the most fulfilling experiences, as I watch their relationship blossom with mutual respect.
I hold a Level 4 PETbc Diploma in Canine Behaviour from the British College of Canine Studies and am a proud member of the Guild of Dog Trainers. While qualifications provide essential knowledge and theory, hands-on experience has been my greatest teacher, and that’s why I’m passionate about working with dogs every single day.
I understand that behaviour challenges often need more than a quick fix. That’s why I offer two tailored options to support you and your dog:
Walk & Train – Ideal if you’re short on time or need practical help with specific behaviours. I work directly with your dog during solo training walks, then update you on progress and how to maintain the results at home. Perfect for reinforcing calm lead walking, focus outdoors, or building confidence.
Bespoke 1:1 Coaching – For those ready to dive deeper, my three-month coaching plan gives you the time, guidance, and support needed to create lasting change. With weekly check-ins, face-to-face sessions, and WhatsApp support, we’ll build a stronger bond between you and your dog through clear communication and understanding.
